In February, Courtlaw won a case in the Appellate Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey. The trial judge had dismissed our client’s case because, at the time of her accident, the client’s personal auto insurance had lapsed for non-payment of her premium. People who drive without auto insurance are generally barred from bringing a lawsuit for their injuries if they get in an accident. Courtlaw appealed and argued that because our client was trying to make a living driving an Uber at the time of her accident, she was not uninsured but was insured under Uber’s policy of insurance. The Appellate Division reversed the dismissal of the case and reinstated it. Courtlaw attorneys Michele Labrada and Jim Marchwinski successfully won this appeal.
